HRES 2015 Annual Meeting and Awards Dinner

HRES held its Annual Meeting and Awards Dinner at the River Station Restaurant on November 12th.  The venue was lovely, and 51 members and guests enjoyed cocktails and a delicious dinner...

Following dinner, President of the Board Lucy Johnson reported on the recent May Conference, “Seeing the Hudson River in the 21st Century” and the September Field Trip to Constitution Marsh and the West Point Foundry (see the report here), announced next Spring’s Conference, “Hudson River and Mohawk River:  the Coming Together of the Waters,” and next fall’s Mohawk River Watershed Tour.  She also welcomed nominations for the board from the assembled company; they can be sent to her at This email address is being protected from spambots. The Awards Ceremony followed.  Bob Daniels, former ichthyologist at the NYS Museum and HRES Board Member received the Distinguished Service Award and delivered a lovely talk on what can one say when asked to give a talk.

The HRES Outstanding Educator Award went to Chris Bowser, for his dedication to educating all Hudson Valley children and adults about the wonders of our River.  In his talk, illustrated with wonderful slides, Bowser honored all of his mentors and the people he has worked with.

We are very proud of these two outstanding individuals, and of the intellectual and fiscal health of the Hudson River Environmental Society.
