Hi HRES members and friends.
Wow. Summer 2025 seemed to fly by quickly. The good news is that fall in the Hudson Valley is always beautiful. I am looking forward to all of the exciting fall events and leaf colors that make it so special to live in the Hudson Valley.
We had our biannual board meeting on September 4, 2025, and our monthly executive committee meeting was held on August 13, 2025.
Here is a summary of the agenda topics we discussed:
- 2025 Symposium Planning Status: Chuck –
- The 2025 HRES Symposium is officially scheduled for October 23, 2025. The event will be held at the New York Parks-Taconic Regional Office, 9 Old Post Road in Staatsburg, NY. You can find the link to purchase tickets, as well as program details, on our website.
- Emilie will be emailing board members this month to see who would be willing to function as note takers and flip chart recorders at the six afternoon break-out sessions. Please email her back with your availability.
- Treasurer’s Report: David – Accounts stand at $40,400 balance for September.
- Winter Newsletter: David – The committee is planning to publish the winter edition in December.
- 2025 Leadership Awards Dinner: Chuck – Look for an email in October/November requesting nominations for our annual Leadership Awards dinner. Remember, anyone is eligible to be nominated, including any Hudson Valley resident who you believe has made a notable contribution to giving us a better understanding of the importance of environmental issues in Hudson Valley.
- September Board Meeting: Lucy – Board Meeting occurred on September 4, 2025.
- Memberships: Jim – Membership renewals will start in October. You will be able to renew your membership at the symposium by choosing “non-member with complimentary HRES membership” on the Eventbrite site.
- Website: Jim – Jeff Macaluso has taken time out of his very busy life to update the content this month. Thank you, Jeff.
- Board Meetings: Executive Committee – In an effort to improve communications with the board, the executive committee will schedule quarterly online meetings, starting in December. HRES board member, Rich Pendleton, will email a Doodle poll to the board in October to find the best date for an online meeting in early December 2025.
Next executive committee online meeting is scheduled for October 8, 2025.
