Hi HRES members and friends.
My son Tim and granddaughter Price flew up from Florida on the 11th for my Son Eric’s 50th birthday. They left a “very warm” Naples, Florida and were greeted on Saturday morning with a nice blanket of “Surprise” Hudson Valley Spring snow. Both were born in New York State and enjoyed driving around our beautiful snow-covered Hudson Valley.
We had our online Executive Committee meeting on April 9, 2025.
Here is a brief summary of the agenda topics discussed:
- 2025 Symposium Progress – Chuck – Met with people at HRNERR about holding a restoration symposium. Leads look positive. We’ll explore venues soon.
- Spring Field Trip – Emilie – Eleven people have signed up so far. Chuck posted the notice to our Facebook site. Jim will resend the announcement out again through our email site.
- McKeon Grants – Jim for Lucy– Four proposals were received from High School students. Grant winners will be announced in next month’s president’s email.
- Website Revisions (www.hres.org) – Jim- HRES member Jeff Macaluso updated the web site adding revised Board Members information, 2025 membership renewal links & president’s emails. WordPress training will begin in May for Jim and Emilie to facilitate timely updates to the site.
- Treasurer’s Report – David – Balance is $41,000. Corporate memberships for CHG&E and HDR have been received. Individual membership renewals have also been arriving. Jim will contact Institutional members to check on renewal status.
- Summer Newsletter – David – David plans to include photos of the spring field trip and a promotion for the fall symposium. We have asked the 2025 HRES’s Distinguished Service Awardee JR Jacobson to provide his words of wisdom in our interview section. McKeon grant awardees will also be profiled.
- Eventbrite – Jim – HRES will provide verification of our Federal EIN (Employee Identification Number) through a third-party company designated by Eventbrite so that we can continue to receive electronic payments to our citizen’s bank account. This effort is underway.
- 2025 Membership Renewals –Jim – Some members are using the Eventbrite link on our web site and others are mailing checks to our PO Box. Renewals for members that signed up at our fall symposium are good through October 2025.
