Good morning HRES members and friends.
Happy summer solstice. Let the fun begin in the Hudson Valley.
The Executive Board held our online meeting on Wednesday, June 18, 2026. Chuck, Lucy, Dave, Emilie, and I were in attendance. Here is a brief overview of the agenda topics that we discussed:
· 2026 Symposium: Chuck
o HRES emailed a request for abstracts for contributed talks and posters for its Annual Hudson River Symposium scheduled for October 28th, 2026 at the Carey Institute of Ecological Studies in Millbrook, New York. This year’s symposium will focus on citizen & community-based science and monitoring in the Hudson River Estuary and Watershed.
o Abstracts for talks and posters must be submitted by Friday August 14, 2026, to: Margie Turrin (mkt@ldeo.columbia.edu).
o Catering: Jim/Dave – Adams will be contacted in early July. Options will be presented to the EC at the July meeting.
o Event Insurance: Jim will contact our insurance carrier.
· Treasurer’s report: Dave-Balance is $37,630. HDR’s annual corporate membership check will arrive this month.
· Summer Newsletter: Dave – We anticipate an end of July delivery. Lucy will send 2026 McKeon information. Jim will send photos of the February Awards Dinner. Interview section will present the profile of one of our new board members.
· www.hres.org: Chuck- working on updating a few sections on the site.
· Board Meeting: Lucy – Will email request to board members checking their availability the last two weeks of September.
