Hello HRES Board, Members, and friends.
Our Board meeting was held on September 18, 2026. Here is the agenda items we discussed:
· Symposium – Cary Institute – October 28, 2026
o Status – Margie: We have a good balance of speakers, presentations, and posters.
o Catering – Jim: Adams Fairacre Farms will be the caterers. Total costs will be less than the caterer we used last year.
o Liability Insurance for the event – Jim: Insurance was purchased and emailed to Christina Otero at Cary.
o Event volunteers – Jim: List will be emailed to board and members in early October. Many hands are needed to coordinate the various working parts.
o Symposium 2027: We will be soliciting ideas for next year’s symposium.
· Executive Committee (EC) Status: Chuck – We are looking for people who are interested in running for EC positions in 2027: We anticipate vacancies for VP and Ex Officio. We are looking for people with fresh ideas and energy! An email will be sent out soon.
· Annual Leadership Awards Dinner 2027- Jim:
o The EC will be requesting nominations for our 2027 Leadership Awards.
o A copy of the Historical Awardees table will be attached with that request.
· 2027 McKeon Student Research Grant(s) Program Status – Lucy: Chuck updated the website and proposal form. Lucy’s team will review all proposals and recommend awardees to the Board in March/April 2027.
· Treasurer’s Report – Dave: Balance at $36,337. FY-25 Tax filings as a 501(c)3 will be submitted in October to the IRS (Form 990-N) and NYS (Form CHAR500) by Jim & Dave.
· Website- www.hres.org – Chuck: Website has been updated with new photos and program(s) info. Thank you, Chuck. The updated site looks great.
· Newsletter- Dave: Anticipates a December publication date (Winter). Ideas for articles and photos can be emailed to David.Davis@hdrinc.com.
A big thank you to our board members who were able to attend our online meeting despite their busy schedules.
Next EC meeting is scheduled for October 14, 2026, from 3:30 to 4:30 pm.
