Hello HRES Members and friends.
Lots of December snow and cold temperatures in the Hudson Valley made it a very festive holiday season.
We held our Board Meeting on December 3, 2025, and our monthly Executive Committee meeting on December 13, 2025.
I have provided a summary below of the main agenda topics covered at both meetings:
- Symposium Wrap up: Chuck
- Chuck compiled a synopsis of the breakout sessions. The report will be included in the December Winter Newsletter.
- Emilie reviewed the overall positive evaluations from the attendees.
- Margie discussed the need to have a future strategy for outreach and communication to share the information from the Symposium with a broader audience.
- Winter Newsletter: Dave – Draft has been reviewed by the EC members. Final edition will be emailed out the week of December22nd.
- Treasurer’s Report: Dave –
- After reconciling expenses from the symposium, our balance is $38,518.
- Dave and Jim met with a Citizen’s Bank representative on the 11th and discussed:
- Adding our treasurer’s signature and cell number to the checking accounts to allow online access.
- Consolidating the McKeon and Grady Moore accounts into the Treasurer’s Account. Separate expenditures will be tracked through Quicken.
- Emilie recommended checking current CD rates to consider investing a small % of money from the checking accounts into a short-term CD. David will present this information to the board.
- Website: www.hres.org – Jim
- Contact Jeff to update the website, including presentations from the symposium.
- Schedule training with Jeff to learn how to access the website and update the topics in WordPress. Jim will set it up so that Emilie and Chuck can attend the training.
- Leadership Awards Dinner: Jim
- Contact Pat from Mahoney’s Irish Pub in Poughkeepsie
- Check availability of February 10th, 11th, or 12th for the dinner.
- Chuck has notified the two 2026 recipients.
- Details will be provided in the Winter Newsletter and on our website.
- McKeon Student Research Grants: Notice will be emailed out on February 1, 2026. Proposals will be due to Lucy Johnson by the end of March 2026.
- Board Memberships and Board Elections:
- Terms ending in 2025: David Davis, Emilie Hauser, Mark McLean, David Yozzo, Lucy Johnson, and Rich Pendleton. Isabelle Stinnette and Cate Collinson have agreed to become board members. Sadly, Brenadette Connors has retired from the board. We will miss her contributions to the organization
- Term will run from January 1, 2026 – December 31, 2027 – 2 Year term.

- Jim will send our renewal notifications to Corporate and Institutional members in January.
- Symposium Ideas for Fall 2026: We will query the board and membership in early 2026 for ideas for our 2026 symposium. We are planning for an October 2026 date.
